Agritech ClimAccelerator launches in Singapore with Better Earth Ventures

The Agritech ClimAccelerator Singapore, a leading global platform for climate-focused startups, is launching its first agritech programme in Asia-Pacific, powered by Better Earth Ventures.

ClimAccelerator (powered by Climate KIC, Europe’s leading climate innovation agency and community) is a global programme for startups to innovate, catalyse and scale the potential of their climate solutions. It brings together the force of a diverse, global, connected community with a strong knowledge base and support system for sourcing, selecting and training entrepreneurs on their journey.

Over the past 15 years, Climate KIC has been a major climate innovation solution provider, supporting more than 2,100 startups across the globe and securing more than €2 billion in funding via the ClimAccelerator. The Better Earth Ventures team has supported 370+ startups that have gone on to raise more than $500 million USD in funding.

The programme is scouting for startups from Australia, Indonesia, New Zealand, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam. Anchored in Singapore, the programme offers resources, networks, capital access, climate impact measurement, and connections to top investors and industry experts.

Startup applications are open for solutions in Novel Farming Practices, Biotech and Biomaterials, Supply chain, Water and Energy Management and Digital Agriculture at Technology Readiness Level (TRL) 4 or above, with validated prototypes ready for real-world testing. Eligible entities must be registered in Australia, Indonesia, New Zealand, Singapore, Thailand, or Vietnam. They should be at the pre-seed stage or beyond, demonstrating traction, early commercial validation, or a clear scaling pathway.

Selected startups will gain access to strategic resources, industry connections, funding opportunities, and expert guidance to measure and enhance their climate impact. Participants will collaborate with leading investors, corporate partners, and agrifood innovation networks to accelerate growth.

ClimAccelerator’s Head of Programmes, Alexandros Nikopoulos, emphasised the strategic importance of expanding into the region: “Scaling agritech solutions in Asia-Pacific is crucial for global climate impact. The ClimAccelerator programme helps startups navigate these challenges and seize sustainable growth opportunities.”

With Asia-Pacific home to over 60% of the world’s population (UNFPA) and some of the most climate-vulnerable agricultural regions, there is a growing need for climate-smart agritech solutions that enhance food security, resilience, and sustainability. The region faces intensifying climate risks, including extreme weather, declining arable land, and water scarcity, which could reduce agricultural productivity by 15% to 20% by 2050, with some crops potentially experiencing up to a 50% decrease (ADB). At the same time, Asia-Pacific is currently experiencing increasing demand for agrifood innovation, with investment in agritech startups surpassing $8 billion in 2023 (AgFunder Asia-Pacific Report 2024).

We face urgent climate and food security challenges that require bold innovation and regional cooperation. This programme will foster an ecosystem to support agritech startups scale, driving climate resilience and sustainable food production. Better Earth Ventures is proud to be the partner to launch the AgriTech ClimAccelerator in Asia-Pacific,” said Rebecca Sharpe, Director of Better Earth Ventures.

Applications close on Friday, 30 May at midnight Singapore time. Ten founders will be selected, with the programme culminating in a demo day on Thursday, 6 November in Singapore.

The AgriTech ClimAccelerator Singapore is supported by AgFunder, Enterprise Singapore, MarTech Collective, Rebbeck Consulting and Tomorrow Studio Ventures.
